The other day, I saw the question How Do You Define Real Evil With Rejection Of The Concept Of Love? on Quora and wanted to jump in.
When I think about real evil, it’s not just the stereotypical “bad guy” image we often see.
Real spiritual evil, to me, is deeply tied to the rejection of love in all its forms—compassion, empathy, connection, and understanding.
When someone rejects the concept of love, it’s like they’re shutting themselves off from a life force that’s meant to unite us, heal us, and help us grow.
In my experience, evil isn’t just about harmful actions; it’s about the intention to cut off the light within.
When love is pushed away, there’s this void that’s often filled with things like fear, hatred, and greed.
That void grows and can spiral into a mindset where power and control are prioritized over kindness and truth.
So, to me, spiritual evil is a state of being where love is no longer welcomed, and instead, there’s an active choice to embrace darkness.
I truly believe that everyone has the power to choose again, to turn back towards the light, and to let love back in.
It’s a choice that’s always available, even for those who feel lost in that darkness.
When I say real spiritual evil isn’t just the stereotypical “bad guy” image, I mean it’s so much more insidious.
We’re not talking about a villain in a movie or someone simply doing wrong. Real spiritual evil is this cold rejection of love’s essence.
It’s almost like a person decides to live in a world where love, empathy, and compassion are just empty words.
They close themselves off from the warmth and depth that love brings, which is like shutting down the very energy that sustains and connects us as human beings.
Love is the glue that binds us together.
It’s that life force that helps us heal, unites our spirits, and drives our growth.
But when someone rejects this force, they’re not just hurting others—they’re severing their own connection to something bigger, something divine.
It’s like they’re unplugging from the source of all light, choosing instead to live in a shadowy place.
This isn’t just about harmful actions; it’s about a fundamental choice to cut off that inner light within themselves and to try and smother it in others.
When love is pushed away, what rushes in to fill that space?
Fear, hatred, greed—they become the dominant forces. Without love, there’s an emptiness, a void, and it doesn’t stay empty for long. That void starts to attract darkness.
A person who chooses to reject love may begin to crave power and control, and they place those above kindness and truth.

This mindset can spiral, feeding on itself, deepening the darkness within.
But here’s the thing: spiritual evil is a state of being, not a permanent identity.
It’s where love is actively turned away, and darkness becomes the comfort zone.
But I genuinely believe that as long as there’s life, there’s hope.
That light—our innate ability to love—never truly goes out.
It can be dimmed, it can be hidden, but it’s always there, waiting to be reawakened.
Everyone has the power to choose again. At any moment, even those who feel completely lost in darkness can turn back toward the light.
They can choose to let love back in.
That’s what I find so powerful—no matter how far someone may stray, they’re never beyond redemption.
The choice to embrace love, to reconnect, to heal, is always there.
And it’s that choice that holds the potential to dissolve any darkness and bring them back to the light.
